Dear White Estate Friend,

Have you seen the just-released Smithsonian Institution publication that lists the 100 most significant Americans of all time? Ellen White is included on that list! Possibly a few years ago you also saw the Barna Group survey reporting that Ellen White was listed by pastors under age 40 as one of the authors they read. We at the White Estate believe that God's blessing, coupled with your partnering with us to help circulate Ellen White's books electronically and in non-English and modern English editions, is helping the world to discover and appreciate Ellen White's inspired writings. Without your ongoing financial support, this would not be happening!

Let me briefly highlight a few things that the White Estate has been doing this year. My hope is that you will want to continue helping to make these and other things happen - now, not later.

  1. The multiple-language Ellen White book project website now has on it books in 94 languages, with more books and languages being added as quickly as they are funded. During the past twelve months the egwwritings.org Website was visited 1,139,398 times.

  2. A new Pathfinder Honor ("God's Messenger"), approved by the General Conference Youth Department, was launched at the Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Camporee in August 2014. Over 2,200 Pathfinders qualified to receive the honor there. It is being translated into five languages, with more planned when funding becomes available. If your Pathfinder Club has not yet offered the honor, why not suggest that they do so (See http://ellenwhite.org/honor/egwhonor.asp).

  3. We are developing a new Ellen G. White Visitor Center at the main office of the Ellen G. White Estate in Silver Spring, Maryland. It will feature interesting highlights about Ellen White as a person as well as information about her Christ-centered, life-changing writings. An additional $200,000 is urgently needed to make possible the creation of additional interactive displays that will appeal especially to school groups and other young people who visit the new facility. (For a sneak preview, visit: http://vimeo.com/108516106; password: fliptvlaurel).

  4. 2015 is the centennial of the passing of Ellen G. White. A variety of projects and events are in preparation to help us as a church remember the blessing that Ellen White's writings have been through the years. Come to think about it, what would the Seventh-day Adventist Church be like today without the inspired counsels from Ellen White? (To see a list of planned activities and resources, see EllenWhite.org).

  5. Unfortunately, a staff change earlier this year has further delayed the launch of our redesigned White Estate website. We have hired a new team member, so we hope soon to be back on track in terms of having the new website ready to introduce by the time of the General Conference Session in San Antonio, Texas, next summer (we hope sooner than that). Funding to hire more contract workers will help to make up the time lost during the staff change.

The White Estate is very aware that there are many other worthy projects, each one needing financial support. So why are we asking you to support us? The reason is very basic. In one way or another, the underlying philosophy of almost every Adventist church-related organization is derived from or impacted by the inspired counsels of Ellen White.

If you have never done so, walk through the exhibit displays at any church-related conference, including the General Conference Session next July in San Antonio, and notice the number of Ellen White quotations and other materials that mention her that are showcased by the vast majority of those ministries. In short, the work of the White Estate is to provide the inspired counsels that are used by church members, departments, and institutions, as well as by the supporting ministries.

To summarize it another way, the White Estate exists for two major reasons: 1) to educate the current and next generation of Adventists as well as newly converted church members and others regarding the importance of the inspired counsels of Ellen White, and 2) to make Ellen White's writings, and information about her, available in as many languages as possible. It goes without saying that both of these objectives take money to accomplish.

If any of the White Estate's current projects resonate with you, please prayerfully consider partnering with us. Without your support, either the project won't happen, or at least it will take much longer before it is ready to bless and inform the audiences that we are trying to reach.

If during 2015 your local church, school, conference, et cetera, is not planning any activities to recall the blessings that have flowed from Ellen White's writings, please check our website for ideas of simple ways you can help make something happen. The White Estate plans to have its new Centennial Legacy website page available by late December 2014 or early January 2015, with additional materials to be added throughout next year. (Watch for an announcement on ellenwhite.org).

Before I close, I want to express my personal appreciation to each White Estate partner who is reading this report. Your investment in the work of the White Estate is paying eternal dividends. If the Lord impresses you to partner with us again this year, you may do so electronically by using the following link: partner.egwwritings.org you will be emailed a receipt, or you may mail your tax deductible donation to Ellen G. White Estate, Inc., 12501 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring, MD 20904. Every dollar invested in any White Estate project is used 100% for the designated project. Tax deductible receipts will be issued for those wanting to claim donation credit on their U.S. Federal income taxes.

Thanks so much for your prayers and ongoing financial support. May God continue to richly bless you.

James R. Nix
Director
